30 Day Romanov Challenge - Day 5 - Favorite Grand Duke
(Absolutely no contest here ;)Grand Duke Michael (4 December 1878 – 13 June 1918): I feel like Michael was a modern prince, born in the wrong time. Described as “good-natured” and quiet, he seemed down-to-earth, relatable, dutiful and attractive. He chose to follow his heart and marry a divorcee, despite being ostracized from the royal family. When war broke out in 1914, he requested to be allowed to return to Russia and serve in the army. When Nicholas II abdicated in his favor in 1917, he deferred to the people and acknowledged the authority of the provisional government. Not only was he one of the member of the royal family arrested and murdered during the revolution, but his remains have yet to be found nearly 100 years after his death: an absolutely pitiful loss.
My admiration for this prince knows no bounds haha :)

This badass right here isn’t spoken of enough. This little shit right here defied the basic rule that if you’re father’s an ass kicking bitchass Prime Minister, then clearly you can’t be a motherfucking badass yourself. Oh no, he threw that rule right into the trash. This shit, during the Siege of Sevastapol, decided, ‘oh fuck those goddamn russians fucking threw a live shell into our motherfucking powder. I am not taking that shit.’ He then proceeds to PICK UP THE LIVE SHELL WITH THE BURNING FUSE and HAUL IT OVER THE RAMPARTS. The shell, upon leaving his strong, manly hands, EXPLODES.
For this ungodly amount of badassery he then receives the Victoria Cross.
